SEED One of our more visual preachers spoke one Sunday about "whirlygigs", those twirly, whirly things that come, I think, off of oak trees? I remember playing with them as a child, and how we would toss them up, as high as we could, into the air, and watch in delight as they twirled and drifted and eventually made their way to the ground. Usually a long way from the tree! The preacher was teaching on the way God made provision for every living thing to reproduce itself, including the tiny whirlygigs of giant majestic oak trees. Including every born-again child of God. Whirlygigs are small and fuzzy, but they contain all the DNA necessary for a complete oak tree to be produced from them. Given time, and water, and soil to grow in, they shelter and feed the birds that live in their branches, and in their own time and season, send the next generation of whirlygigs out to begin the circle all over again. God's plan, God's Way. How are we raising our children, or our grandchildren? Are we creating a new generation that carries all the mistakes or hurts of our own generation, or are we breaking the spiritual genetic chains that held us tight before we came to know the Lord? Unlike the mighty oak, we have the choice how we will reproduce ourselves. The "crop" we produce in our lives is a direct result of the choices we make right now. How strong they grow, those loved ones around us, in part depends on how much water, and Sonlight, and Word we give them, we plant around them, we speak over them. Choose to be godly seed. Choose to re-produce believers, boys and girls and men and women of faith and destiny. Choose to be good seed! | |||||||||||||||||||||
