COMMANDED This poster was a custom-order from a teenager in the Midwest. She played high school soccer, and was pretty good at it, but she battled fear and wamted Word-wisdom to deal with it. Athletics is a training of the mind nearly as much as a training of the body. In high school, my choice of sport was Track & Field, specifically long jump and high jump. We were learning a new high jump technique, and I remember standing on the edge of the pad, getting ready to make my run. My thoughts were chasing away my focus, for the height was one I had attempted many times, but had never made sucessfully. My heels kept hitting the bar. The old way I had already learned, though limited, kept pulling me back. That day, I had to use my "mental muscles" to put the fear aside, to focus for a nano-second rehersal of proper technique, and to take a deep breath and settle my doubts. Then the run. I didn't make it that time, either. Though disappointed, failure fostered determination, and by the end of that year's season, a teammate and I made it to districts (where a girl younger than I with 6' legs broke every record by a mile!). I went beyond my personal best and the Lord taught me a valuable lesson I remember to this day. Fear and doubt are choices we each make. Believing in God's Word - and what it says about me and what I can do - is also a choice. Trusting in the Lord, through every circumstance or situation, and believing that I CAN do what He asks or tells me to do ... is my choice. Whether it is business decisions, or problems with kiddos, or health issues, or financial trials --- do not fear. God is here, He loves and cares for you, and He IS in control. Trust! | |||||||||||||||||||||
